WELCOME TO THE OLDEST CARNIVAL WEBSITE ON THE INTERNET

Created on the 23rd April 2003 as the Carnival Chronicle, we had just four pages and 60 photographs, all on 35mm film, as digital cameras eight years go, were virtually unheard of and very expensive.

Since then the website has changed names on four occasions to reflect the area we cover, in 2007 two further websites were amalgamated within this site, and because of this a complete rebuild was commenced. Also because of the size and content of the site, we have had to purchase a bigger web server to accommodate all the information and images. However we decided to revert to our original name, which we feel is justified as we are coming up to our 10th anniversary.

We hope that the website will be complete for our 10th anniversary in April 2010, with the need to update the appropriate sections on a yearly basis. It is our intentions that this website be a source of information, history and images, for future generations to look at and admire the wonderful entries that have appeared in the carnivals from the earliest images to the most current.

We are proud and quite rightly so of the website, the idea which was conceived in 1998 by Brendon Hill and Mike Pursey, who in 1997 intended to write a book together covering the carnival scene on the four circuits that all linked into Somerset, with club history, and entries. However it was agreed that the book would be out of date as soon as it was completed.

We are now proud to cover the East and South Devon Circuits along with the Somerset County, South Somerset Federation and Wessex Circuits. Also amalgamated within this website are the former Devon Carnivals and East Devon Carnivals websites.
